RFeye Block Down Converter
Overview
The RFeye Block Down Converter (BDC) extends the frequency range of the RFeye from 6 GHz up to 18 GHz. It takes a wide band of frequencies and converts them into a range that the RFeye node can analyse using the full real-time analysis capabilities of the node.
The BDC is controlled by the RFeye and can share the same power supply, simplifying installation and reducing additional cable run requirements. The BDC accepts RF inputs for both the RFeye frequency range and the extended range to 18 GHz, and is connected to the RFeye via calibrated IF link.
The BDC uses the same form factor and mounting options as the RFeye, permitting standardisation of fitment and mounting options, and may be co-sited with the RFeye or mounted remotely. CRFS direction finding systems are available with optional in-built Block Down Converters to extend direction finding frequency range, for example AOA direction finding by high performance 18GHz directional antenna switched arrays, and TDOA via wideband omnidirectional antenna to 18GHz.
The BDC is built to the same rugged environmental specifications as the RFeye and is designed for outdoor or indoor, fixed and mobile operation including in hostile environments. It is also available in an Evaluation System kit.
Regular Technical Notes and Product Updates are issued by CRFS on all latest developments.
