Spectrum Monitoring Systems
Our Spectrum Monitoring Systems are designed for network operators, broadcasters, security services, and spectrum managers to allow them to survey, investigate, and regulate RF spectrum.
Key features
- Data collection network using distributed, fixed or mobile RFeye® spectrum analyser nodes
- Centralised spectrum usage database with powerful RFeyeScope® data analysis software
The capabilities of the RFeye® node are key to providing a cost-effective system that can provide continuous, 24/7 monitoring of the radio spectrum:
- Low cost, rugged, compact, fixed or mobile installation
- Fast real-time spectrum analyser, 10 MHz to 6 GHz, 20 MHz instantaneous bandwidth
- Multiple RF ports supporting multi-antenna operation
- Designed for unattended operation – built-in PC controller
- High-accuracy GPS for location identification and inter-device time synchronisation
- Bulk local data storage via USB memory device
- Data download over the air via built-in GPRS/HSPA modem, or via fixed-line interfaces
The RFeyeScope® data analysis software consists of tools for the display and analysis of data downloaded from the nodes:
- Spectrum analyser/polar plot display for specific node
- Mapping of signal power, occupancy etc. against global map
- Historical trend analysis – variation of signal power, occupancy etc. against time
- Spurious/interfering signal identification and location when nodes equipped with multiple antennae
Applications
- Spectrum Regulators, Network Operators, Broadcasters and Spectrum Managers can use our Spectrum Monitoring Systems to:
- Verify coverage and identify coverage problems
- Identify interfering or illegal transmissions
- Enforce spectrum licence conditions
- Verify that new spectrum is clear
- RF planners can use our Spectrum Monitoring Systems to:
- Improve modelling accuracy through incorporation of actual noise floor figures
- Event Venues can use our Spectrum Monitoring Systems to:
- Identify potential background interference issues prior to events
- Verify equipment frequencies and power levels
- Identify sources of interference or conflicts in spectrum usage
- Confirm frequencies assigned to security and emergency forces are clear and available for use when required
- Police/Security services can use our Spectrum Monitoring Systems to:
- Perform 24/7 monitoring of background spectrum usage
- Identify cross-border transmissions
- Identify and locate illegal transmissions
- Confirm frequencies assigned to security and emergency forces are clear and available for use when required
- Defence forces can use our Spectrum Monitoring Systems to:
- Provide in-theatre force protection
- Support battlespace spectrum management and verification of ‘clear’ frequencies for essential blue force communication
- Monitor and locate interfering transmissions or jamming
