CRFS announces new 6 GHz – 18 GHz Block Down Converter

Cambridge, England, 1 July 2010 – CRFS, the developer and manufacturer of innovative real-time spectral monitoring and signal analysis systems, has released a Block Down Converter to extend the frequency range of the RFeye spectrum monitoring node to 18 GHz.

Housed in the same IP67-rated ruggedised enclosure as the RFeye Node, the block down converter is controlled and powered by the RFeye Node and converts a block of spectrum in the 6–18 GHz range into the measurement range of the standard RFeye node. Multiple RF inputs support multi-antenna operation, and pre-selection filter options are available for customer-specific applications.

Alistair Massarella, CEO of CRFS, commented:

“The new RFeye Block Down Converter product has been developed in response to demands from customers who wish to have the capabilities of the standard RFeye Node but at higher frequencies. The new product offers a seamless extension to the standard RFeye node frequency range, and can be easily fitted to existing RFeye system deployments. Extending the frequency range broadens the use of the RFeye system to include monitoring of microwave point-point links and satellite transmissions, both to confirm correct system operation and diagnose system failures or interference issues. All other aspects of the RFeye system operation, including fixed and mobile operation, and powerful monitoring network management and data analysis tools, are fully supported, allowing users to build intelligent low-cost monitoring networks at microwave frequencies.”
