Battlefield spectrum planning
Monitoring of spectrum can provide valuable strategic and tactical information for in-theatre operations

Spectrum sweeping of an area from the ground or the sky can be used to identify suspect transmissions and potential enemy threats. These can be analysed in real time using live in-vehicle displays or recorded and analysed after the fact. Spectrum mapping can be used for analysing spectrum usage before, during and after campaigns, for identifying available frequencies, minimising interference and planning better operational communications strategies.
RFeye is an invaluable tool for battlefield spectrum planning.. It can be deployed in various forms including in-vehicle systems and standalone man-portable units such as RFeye StormCase. It rapidly sweeps across broadband frequencies up to 18 GHz, provides real-time information as to what is happening in the spectrum environment which can then be acted upon. It can also be used to continuously record spectrum data for post-event analysis. CRFS has developed a Vita 46 (3U VPX) form factor module, RFeye VITA, which can be integrated into flight-ready electronic warfare systems.
